Ball Takes the Victory at Auto Club With Controversial Last Lap move!

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Coming into Auto Club the field was keen to put a stop to Larue Esports and capture some points for themselves and their team. Former ITRL Rush Series Champion John Schweickart locked himself into the playoff finale at Kansas which is less than two weeks away at Richmond and is currently playing with house money. Auto Club brought less team dominance with nine leaders on the night and ten lead changes along with only four cautions. Former ITRL Rush Series Champion John Schweickart picked up where he left off last week as he captured the stage win, fastest lap, pole and the most laps led with 38 on the night. The controversy and intrigue ramped up in the final laps as the field had to enter fuel saving mode at the tail end of a long green flag run. The final three laps saw John, Josh, Storm, and Brandon in direct contention for the victory separated by less than one second for a plethora of laps. The final turn of the final lap however is where the proper controversy occurred as Josh Ball sent his truck below John Schweickart before pushing up and up the track resulting in major contact that sent the 01 of Schweickart spinning down the track onto pit road as the 1 truck of Josh Ball crossed the line to take the victory. John Schweickart as a result finished 25th and left a sour taste in the mouths of some other drivers who made their displeasure with the move known. The reigning ITRL Premier Series Champion Josh Ball ignored the detractors as he completed burnouts at the start/finish line. The final race to set the rest of the finale field next week sees the pack going to home sweet home Alabama for the Cyrus Reid Memorial 225 at Talladega with a scheduled distance of 65 laps. Join our broadcast on MaxSpeedTV at 9pm est Tuesday night for 60 circuits of the two mile speedway!
